Had an awesome experience at Sugar Taco on Melrose! The food is top-notch—so flavorful and satisfying, and the menu has something for everyone, even meat eaters will be impressed. The vibe inside is super fun and laid-back, perfect for any occasion. The staff were really friendly and made me feel right at home. Vegan or not, this is a spot you’ll want to check out. I’ll definitely be back!

A good place for vegans that offers a vibrant and delicious twist on traditional Mexican flavors with a plant-based menu. The tacos are packed with bold, fresh ingredients, and the vegan options are incredibly satisfying, especially the "Sugar Taco" with its unique toppings. The colorful, lively atmosphere makes it a fun spot to enjoy tasty, guilt-free bites. Perfect for both vegans and non-vegans looking for something new and flavorful!

I didn’t even know a vegan Mexican place existed in Los Angeles so I was really looking forward to trying Sugar Taco. As soon as I walked in, I felt at home. Its vibrant atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, and its all vegan menu made it so that my vegan friend didn’t have to worry about accidentally ordering something that contained an animal product. The horchata and agua fresca are deliciously refreshing, and perfect for these sizzling LA summers. The complimentary chips and salsa ruled; The salsa was slightly spicy, but nothing too over the top. When the tacos came (we ordered the 10 taco plate), I could have sworn a chorus of angels descended and started singing. Not only did they look aesthetically appealing, but they were sumptuous, and full of authentic Mexican flavor. One downside I will mention was the elote. Though good, it came as loose roasted corn in a ramekin, and not on a stick. The roasted, smoky flavor was delicious, and it had a bit of salsa piled on top, but in my opinion, there’s nothing better than biting into a heavily seasoned elote on a stick. The ten taco plate was essentially a chef’s choice of ten different tacos, so each one was unique. The ones I had were awesome, and my friend loved theirs, as well. They came piled high with filling, and for a second, I thought it was a bad idea to only serve them on one tortilla. It held up perfectly, though, and in retrospect, two tortillas would have been too much and would have detracted from the flavor of the tasty insides. There was a perfect ratio of protein to veggies and sauce, in my opinion. Nothing overpowered each other, and they all worked together in harmony. We took vegan churro donuts home to enjoy later, and oh my god, these are a MUST try. I will definitely be coming back! We lucked out and found parking right up front, so if you decide to go, make sure to factor in some extra time to find and pay for a meter. Thanks so much Sugar Taco!

As a vegetarian, it's really hard to have too many vegetarian options. So a vegan taco place is just excellent for any vegetarian. We tried their spicy ghost taco, it was spicy and delicious. Also got their regular 3 tacos with assorted toppings - all tasted really good. I really liked their potato topping taco. We also got half order of nachos - the serving portion is huge, so half portion should easily be sufficient for 2.

The loaded fries were really good Standard margaritas with good unique flavors. The ghost pepper taco though 🥵🥵🥵, it's hot for the sake of being hot - it's missing the savory/smokey factor of what you would find in authentic Mexican food with hot salsa. Otherwise, the vibe is super cute, I really like the outdoor patio. For the price, I feel like you could get more at a food truck, but a decent price for a vegan meal.
