My partner and I tried this all vegan Japanese restaurant after looking at the top rated vegan restaurants in Portland. We went in without a reservation and were seated right away. The menu is easy to access as it is a QR code and you place your order through an online ordering system. We started off with a cocktail, he got the sake, which comes with a cup that you can take home with you and is so cute, and I got the gin ginger cocktail, both were delicious. We then each got an order of the carriage chicken and I got a side salad to start, that was probably one of our favorite parts of the meal… Very good tofu!!! I also ordered a sesame onigiri with brown rice, which was very good as well. From there, our main entrées came out, and I ordered the vegetable tempura curry udon, which taste like someone had just made everything from scratch in their kitchen, truly, it felt like it was homemade by someone’s grandmother! My partner got the chicken Katsu curry combo platter, and that was delicious as well. Overall, this has been one of the best dining out experiences we both have had in a very long time and especially on this trip to Portland. We were blown away by the food, the service the atmosphere and for the quality of everything the prices were decent. Thank you very much Obon Shokudo, we will definitely be back next time!!!

Sometimes you just find that place- and all other options fade away. Exceptional- and has set a new standard for all my dining experiences. I hope other business can learn a thing or two from you 🌊 You’ve already taught me so much. Thank you for the rare and lovely creations that stand out like no other. The freshness, care, and quality- is truly exceptional.

Had a wonderful lunch here today. I ordered the tempura udon, which was flavorful and comforting. We also enjoyed an onigiri and a fried tofu sando, which had a citrusy slaw on it. Cardamom Rose kombucha was great as well! Orders are placed on a QR code at your table, which is convenient. Service and atmosphere is warm, overall a great spot for some tasty vegan Japanese food!

Went the other night and had a wonderful night! Was greeted by friendly staff who consistently checked up on me and my friend! We ordered the karaage, which even though I'm not a fan of tofu I did thoroughly enjoy! Only thing I didn't appreciate were serving sizes were a little small, and the menu was a little hard to read, even on mobile. Recommend this place to any vegan or veg people. : )

We were blown away by all of the flavors! The combo plate is a must order so you can sample different items. My boyfriend’s favorite was the kakiage, while I really loved the onigiri and giant tater tot :) Curry was also 10/10 and really friendly team working there.
